A delicious twist on classic grilled cheese, combining the flavors of pepperoni pizza with gooey mozzarella.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (your choice, such as white or whole wheat)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 ounce pepperoni slices
  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. While the skillet is heating, spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet. Layer the mozzarella cheese evenly on top.
  3. Add the pepperoni slices over the cheese, then drizzle the pizza sauce on top. If using, sprinkle the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom slice is golden brown.
  5. Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing in half. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Try using different cheeses like cheddar or pepper jack for a unique flavor twist.
