- 2 slices of bread (your choice, such as white or whole wheat)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 ounce pepperoni slices
- 2 tablespoons pizza sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. While the skillet is heating, spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet. Layer the mozzarella cheese evenly on top.
- Add the pepperoni slices over the cheese, then drizzle the pizza sauce on top. If using, sprinkle the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom slice is golden brown.
- Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet and let it cool for a minute before slicing in half. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes.
- Try using different cheeses like cheddar or pepper jack for a unique flavor twist.
