Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
4 slices mozzarella cheese
4 hamburger buns
1 cup marinara sauce
1 cup sliced pepperoni
Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them and place a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each patty. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burgers reach your desired doneness.
While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
To assemble, place each burger patty on a bun, top with marinara sauce and a generous amount of sliced pepperoni. Add the top bun and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
Notes
For a spicy kick, add sliced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes to the burger mixture.
Try using turkey or chicken instead of beef for a leaner option. Adjust cooking times as needed for different meats.
