Peking Pork Chops are a delicious and flavorful dish featuring seared pork chops coated in a sweet and savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds bone-in pork chops (about 4 chops)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the pork chops with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chops from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the minced ginger and garlic, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Return the pork chops to the skillet, coating them in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Serve the pork chops over steamed rice or with stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
