Ingredients
Scale
1 cup uncooked white rice
2 cups water
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon soy sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
4 large eggs
1 cup brown gravy (store-bought or homemade)
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a medium saucepan, combine the rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until the rice is tender and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
While the rice is cooking, in a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until well combined. Remove from heat.
In a separate skillet, fry the eggs to your desired doneness (sunny-side up or over-easy works well).
To assemble, place a scoop of rice on each plate, top with the seasoned ground beef, and then add a fried egg on top. Pour warm brown gravy over the entire dish.
Garnish with sliced green onions and serve immediately.
Notes
For a healthier option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
Add sautéed mushrooms or spinach to the beef mixture for extra flavor and nutrition.
