Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf (10 inches) round Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup olive salad (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 ounces sliced provolone cheese
  • 4 ounces sliced salami
  • 4 ounces sliced ham
  • 4 ounces sliced mortadella
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoncini (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the Italian bread in half horizontally. Hollow out some of the inner bread to create space for the fillings.
  2. Drizzle the inside of both halves with olive oil.
  3. Spread the olive salad evenly on the bottom half of the bread.
  4. Layer the provolone cheese, salami, ham, mortadella, and pepperoncini on top of the olive salad.
  5. Top with fresh basil leaves if desired, then place the top half of the bread back on.
  6. Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and press down gently.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Slice into wedges and serve cold or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños to the sandwich.
  • You can also substitute the meats with turkey or roast beef for a different flavor profile.
