Irresistible Sweet & Savory Asian Mango Glazed Chicken Twists are a delicious and unique dinner option that combines tender chicken with a flavorful mango glaze, all wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough.

  • 2 large chicken breasts (about 1 pound), cut into strips
  • 1 cup mango puree (fresh or canned)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the mango puree, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic powder, ginger powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the mango sauce mixture. Bring it to a simmer. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until smooth, then add it to the saucepan. Stir until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken strips and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until fully cooked and no longer pink. Pour half of the mango glaze over the chicken and stir to coat. Remove from heat.
  5. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Place a spoonful of the glazed chicken at the wide end of each triangle. Roll the dough around the chicken, starting from the wide end and tucking in the sides as you go.
  6. Place the chicken twists on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with any remaining mango glaze.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of sriracha or red pepper flakes to the mango glaze.
  • Substitute the chicken with shrimp or tofu for a different protein option.
