Ingredients
Scale
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
1 cup BBQ sauce
1/2 cup honey
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Preheat your grill or oven to 375°F. If using a grill, lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
Place the chicken thighs in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour half of the honey BBQ sauce mixture over the chicken, reserving the other half for later. Seal the bag or cover the dish and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the used marinade. If grilling, brush the chicken with olive oil.
Grill the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. If baking, place the chicken in a greased baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, basting with the reserved sauce halfway through.
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill or oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with the reserved honey BBQ sauce drizzled on top.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the marinade.
Serve the chicken with coleslaw or corn on the cob for a classic BBQ meal.
