Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • For the frosting:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brewed coffee (cooled)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine melted butter and granulated sugar, mixing until smooth.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, and instant coffee granules.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
  10. For the frosting, beat softened butter in a bowl until creamy.
  11. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until smooth.
  12. Add brewed coffee and vanilla extract, then mix until well combined.
  13. Once the brownies are cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.
  14. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the brownie batter.
  • You can substitute the semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark chocolate chips for a more intense chocolate taste.
