Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
4 slices cheddar cheese
4 hamburger buns
1 cup sautéed onions (optional)
1 cup sautéed mushrooms (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
Cook the patties on the grill or skillet for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each one. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness.
While the patties are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
Assemble the burgers by placing a cheesy patty on the bottom half of each bun. Add sautéed onions and mushrooms if desired, then top with the other half of the bun.
Notes
For a spicy kick, add jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce to your burger.
Experiment with different types of cheese, such as pepper jack or blue cheese, for a unique flavor twist.
