A delightful and savory pie made with fresh shrimp and sharp cheddar cheese, perfect for a family meal or gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic powder, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour to the mixture, stirring until smooth.
  5. Fold in the cooked shrimp, shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped green onions until evenly distributed.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased 9-inch pie dish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the pie is set and golden brown on top.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the mixture.
  • Substitute the shrimp with crab meat or cooked chicken for a different flavor profile.
