Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
4 hamburger buns
4 slices American cheese
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 medium tomato, sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
1/4 cup pickles
Ketchup, to taste
Mustard, to taste
Mayonnaise, to taste
Instructions
Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat.
In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the burger reaches your desired doneness.
While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with shredded lettuce, tomato slices, onion slices, pickles, and your choice of condiments (ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise).
Place the top half of the bun on each burger and serve immediately.
Notes
For a smoky flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke to the beef mixture before forming the patties.
Customize your toppings with additional options like jalapeños, avocado, or different types of cheese for a unique twist.
