Ingredients
Scale
2 pounds flank steak
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 cup beef broth
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 medium onion, sliced
1 bell pepper, sliced
Instructions
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the flank steak with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Sear the steak in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Place the sliced onion and bell pepper in the bottom of the crockpot. Lay the seared flank steak on top of the vegetables.
Pour the sauce mixture over the steak.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the steak is tender and easily shredded.
Once cooked, remove the steak from the crockpot and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing against the grain.
Serve the sliced steak with the cooked vegetables and sauce from the crockpot.
Notes
For added flavor, marinate the flank steak in the sauce mixture for a few hours or overnight before cooking.
Serve the flank steak in tortillas with toppings like avocado, salsa, and cilantro for a delicious taco night.
