A delicious and crispy orange chicken recipe that combines tender chicken with a sweet and tangy orange sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 green onion, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs. Place panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  2. Dip each piece of chicken first into the flour mixture, then into the egg, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Set aside on a plate.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, cornstarch, vegetable oil, and sesame oil. Stir until well mixed and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
  4. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add the breaded chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In a large bowl, toss the crispy chicken with the orange sauce until well coated.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the orange sauce.
  • Substitute chicken thighs with chicken breasts for a leaner option.
