Crispy Mozzarella-Stuffed Chicken Bombs are a delicious and indulgent dish featuring tender chicken breasts filled with gooey mozzarella cheese, breaded and fried to perfection.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds total)
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian-style)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce (for dipping)
  • Cooking oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to about 1/2 inch thick using a meat mallet or rolling pin.
  3. Take a piece of mozzarella cheese and place it in the center of each chicken breast. Fold the chicken over the cheese and secure with toothpicks if necessary.
  4. Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one shallow dish, beat the eggs in a second dish, and mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a third dish.
  5. Dredge each stuffed chicken breast in flour, shaking off the excess, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of cooking oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the chicken bombs and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Transfer the fried chicken bombs to a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for an additional 10-15 minutes to ensure the cheese is melted and the chicken is fully cooked.
  8. Remove toothpicks before serving and serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add crushed red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Substitute the mozzarella with provolone or cheddar cheese for a different flavor profile.
