A delicious and flavorful Cheesy Stuffed Birria Pizza that combines the richness of beef and pork with melted cheese, all encased in a golden crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 pre-made pizza dough (about 16 ounces)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in ground beef and ground pork, cooking until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Add chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
  5. Pour in beef broth and simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the mixture to thicken slightly.
  6. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  7. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to fit your pizza pan. Place the dough on the pan.
  8. Spread half of the meat mixture evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  9. Top with the remaining meat mixture and fold the edges of the dough over to create a stuffed crust.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with lime wedges.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños or a dash of cayenne pepper to the meat mixture.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, and use low-fat cheese to reduce calories.
