A delicious twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich, featuring pizza flavors with mozzarella, pepperoni, and pizza sauce.

  • 2 slices of bread (your choice, such as white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni (or any favorite pizza toppings)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. While the skillet is warming, spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet. Layer the mozzarella cheese evenly over the bread.
  3. Spoon the pizza sauce over the cheese, then add the pepperoni and sprinkle with Italian seasoning if using. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.
  4. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom slice is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
  5. If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top of the sandwich during the last minute of cooking for extra flavor.
  6. Remove from the skillet, let it cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
