A delicious Caramel Apple Streusel Pie featuring a buttery crust, spiced apple filling, and a crunchy streusel topping, drizzled with caramel sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ lbs Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 68 apples)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and 2 tablespoons of flour until well combined.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust and dot with small pieces of butter.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, ½ cup flour, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon.
  5. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  8. Reduce the temperature to 350°F and continue baking for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  9. If the edges of the crust brown too quickly, cover them with aluminum foil.
  10. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for at least 30 minutes.
  11. Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the apple mixture.
  • You can substitute the Granny Smith apples with a mix of sweet and tart apples, such as Honeycrisp and Fuji, for a more complex taste.
