Ingredients
Scale
6 to 8 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425°F.
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of flour. Toss until the apples are well coated.
Place the pre-made pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Pour the apple mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
In another bowl, mix the softened butter, 1 cup of flour, brown sugar, oats, and salt until crumbly. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apples.
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
Reduce the temperature to 350°F and continue baking for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for at least 15 minutes. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the apple mixture.
You can also substitute the rolled oats with crushed nuts for added crunch.
Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert!
