Caramel Apple Bread is the ultimate fall delight, combining the flavors of caramel and apples in a moist, delicious loaf.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and sour cream until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the diced apples and chopped nuts (if using).
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top and finish with the rest of the caramel sauce.
  8. Use a knife to gently swirl the caramel into the batter for a marbled effect.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a spicier flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger or allspice to the dry ingredients.
  • Substitute the apples with pears or a mix of both for a different twist on the recipe.
