Ingredients
Scale
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups whole milk
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1 cup hot water
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Stir in the brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined. Remove from heat.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the whole milk, stirring until smooth.
Fold in the chopped pecans if using.
Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch square baking dish.
Carefully pour the hot water over the batter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is set and golden brown.
Let the pudding cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, try adding a tablespoon of bourbon or rum to the batter.
You can substitute the pecans with walnuts or chocolate chips for a different twist.
Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
