Ingredients
Scale
1 box (18.3 oz) brownie mix
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1/4 cup water
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup peppermint-flavored yogurt (or vanilla yogurt with crushed peppermint)
1 cup crushed candy canes (about 4–5 candy canes)
1 cup chocolate fudge sauce
1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, combine the brownie mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and water. Stir until just combined.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
While the brownies are cooling, whip the heavy cream in a mixing bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
Once the brownies are cool, cut them into bite-sized squares.
In a large trifle dish or individual cups, layer half of the brownie squares at the bottom.
Add half of the yogurt, followed by half of the whipped cream, and drizzle with half of the chocolate fudge sauce.
Sprinkle half of the crushed candy canes and mini marshmallows (if using) over the top.
Repeat the layers with the remaining brownie squares, yogurt, whipped cream, fudge sauce, and crushed candy canes.
Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
For a festive twist, add a layer of crushed Oreos between the brownie and yogurt layers.
Substitute the peppermint yogurt with chocolate yogurt for a richer flavor, and top with chocolate shavings instead of candy canes for a different presentation.
