Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • For the glaze:
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, ketchup, brown sugar, egg, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the glaze ingredients: ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Pour half of the glaze over the meatloaf, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. After 30 minutes, brush the remaining glaze over the meatloaf.
  6. Continue baking until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  7. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add 1 teaspoon of hot sauce to the meat mixture.
  • If you prefer a healthier option, substitute ground turkey for the beef and use whole wheat breadcrumbs.
