Ingredients
Scale
1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
For the glaze:
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, ketchup, brown sugar, egg, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
In a separate bowl, mix together the glaze ingredients: ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Pour half of the glaze over the meatloaf, spreading it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. After 30 minutes, brush the remaining glaze over the meatloaf.
Continue baking until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add 1 teaspoon of hot sauce to the meat mixture.
If you prefer a healthier option, substitute ground turkey for the beef and use whole wheat breadcrumbs.
