Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large egg
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon soy sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until well combined.
Form the mixture into 4 equal patties.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir to combine. Gradually add the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add the soy sauce and season with salt and pepper. Bring the gravy to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes, or until it thickens.
Return the beef patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Allow them to simmer together for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
Serve the beef patties with onion gravy over mashed potatoes or rice for a hearty meal.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes to the onion gravy.
Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version of the patties.
