Ingredients
Scale
2 racks of baby back ribs (about 4 pounds total)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs by sliding a knife under it and pulling it off with your fingers.
Pat the ribs dry with paper towels and place them on a large baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
Rub the olive oil evenly over both sides of the ribs.
In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Rub this spice mixture generously over both sides of the ribs.
Cover the ribs tightly with another piece of aluminum foil to keep them moist during cooking.
Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until the ribs are tender.
Remove the ribs from the oven and preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Brush the BBQ sauce generously over the ribs and place them on the grill. Grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side, basting with more sauce, until caramelized and slightly charred.
Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For an extra smoky flavor, add wood chips to your grill or use a smoker if available.
Try different BBQ sauces to customize the flavor, such as honey mustard or spicy chipotle.
