Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • For the streusel topping:
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the blueberries.
  5. In a small bowl, prepare the streusel topping by mixing the flour, sugar, butter, and cinnamon until crumbly.
  6. Spoon the donut batter into the prepared pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full. Sprinkle the streusel topping evenly over the batter.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
  • Add a drizzle of glaze made from powdered sugar and milk for extra sweetness.
  • For a fun twist, try adding lemon zest to the batter for a refreshing citrus flavor.
