1 pound cocktail sausages (smokies)
1 pound bacon, cut into thirds
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F.
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup and place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet.
Take one piece of bacon and wrap it around a cocktail sausage, securing it with a toothpick if necessary. Repeat with all sausages.
In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, chili powder, and black pepper.
Roll each bacon-wrapped sausage in the brown sugar mixture until well coated.
Place the coated sausages on the wire rack on the baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized.
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a spicy kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the brown sugar mixture.
Try using different types of sausages, such as turkey or chicken, for a lighter option.
