Ingredients
Scale
1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed
8 ounces bacon (about 12 slices)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
In a large bowl, toss the trimmed asparagus with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
Take one slice of bacon and wrap it around each asparagus spear, starting at the bottom and spiraling up to the tip. Place the wrapped asparagus on the prepared baking sheet.
If using, sprinkle brown sugar over the wrapped asparagus for a sweet glaze.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the asparagus is tender. For extra crispiness, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes at the end of cooking.
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, try adding a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top before baking.
You can also substitute prosciutto for bacon for a different taste.
For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the seasoning mix.
